Stage 38: Acquapendente to Bolsena. Wild flowers and a lake. Part 1.

Setting off early by bus, I arrived in Acquapendente, found a stamp in a cafe (dolci passi on the Via Roma), but not at the pilgrim hostel, and started up the hill out of town, mostly pavement, but with a nasty busy uphill stretch on tarmac, until reaching these exciting silos and turning off into woods and meadows.
The path soon flattened out, with views back across chocolate brown fields to the mountains of Tuscany,
and remained pretty flat all the way to San Lorenzo Nuovo, where Rob and Kate were waiting for me. Then downhill, our first glimpse of Lake Bolsena (the largest volcanic lake in Europe)
before climbing up again and into some flower strewn woods.
